Public lecture in Kemi
12/09/2022
One of the central airfields of Luftgau Finnland was located in Kemi, where the Germans built a considerable amount of buildings and infastructure. Before retreating from Kemi, the Germans destroted the majority of the airfield. Craters from explosions and foundations of destroyed buildings are still visible in the landscape surrounding the airfield.
During the lecture, researcher Teemu Väisänen gives an overview of the German activities in Kemi and introduces some material gathered by the research project. The lecture (in Finnish) is on September 12th at 6 pm at Kemin kulttuurikeskus. The event is organized by the Kemi Historical Museum and the Museum of Torne Valley.
