In 2019, a project was started to research the history of the Luftwaffe airfield in Pori through archaeological excavations, archival research and interviews. The project called 'Feldluftpark Pori' was led by archaeologist Teemu Väisänen in close cooperation with Satakunta Museum and Pori adult education centre. Research culminated in an exhibition at Satakunta Museum in April 2022.

The project expanded in 2022, when the focus shifter to other airfields used by Luftwaffe in Finland. Research project called 'Luftgau Finnland' was formed within the University of Turku and is currently ongoing. The project is supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and Karjalan Kulttuurirahasto.
